Abbotts View Farm is our private farm, a peaceful place where our animals are loved and cared for, where birds circle overhead and where peace and quiet is in abundance. Unlike other commercial/open farms, we aren't open to the public every day, but each and every visit has to be pre-booked and is tailored to the needs of the group. That means we are never inundated with visitors and there is no queueing or waiting your turn. Your visit is special, your chance to escape the worries of the world for a short time and immerse yourself in the beautiful outdoors, and our wonderful animals. Alpaca therapy is the BEST therapy!
Private visits to Abbotts View Farm can be booked on weekdays, from Spring to Autumn, usually late morning or early afternoon, and always include cake and a cuppa! We have alpacas, pygmy goats, rare breed sheep, kune kune pigs, free range ducks, a rabbit and guinea pigs and horses and ponies. Our very special pony, Buckthorn, is our RSPCA rescue and he has the most amazingly gentle character (and incredible moustache!). He is quite happy to come and meet our guests. In fact meeting Buckthorn is exclusive to visitors who book a private visit. His owner, our daughter Amy, loves to show him off and if she (and he) are free they will come and say hello.
We will provide feed for our alpacas, pygmy goats and ducks for you to feed, if you want to, and we are happy to answer any questions you have - we love to talk alpaca!
This is a safe, calm space, and we have previously been visited by Help for Heroes, Bucks Vision, Residential Care Homes, Adults with brain injuries, teenagers with autism, W.I groups and many different special interest and charity groups. Each visit is tailored to your needs and interests. If you want to know about fibre and what we do with it - let us show you! If you just want a safe space to come to - that's fine - we'll go at your pace. If you need to bring carers/drivers that's ok. Let us know what you would like and if we can make it happen we will.
Private visits to our farm usually last about 90 minutes and include a farm tour and refreshments. We have two toilets on site, with hand-washing facilities, and one is accessible, as is our cafe barn. If some of your group aren't very nimble on their feet, we can bring the animals right up to the parking area and provide chairs for them to rest on whilst watching our graceful alpacas. Please note that private visits include meeting our animals, but not walking them.
What does it cost?
The cost for a private farm visit is based on a minimum charge of £250 for up to 15 people to include carers. This includes the farm tour, animal feed and cake and a cuppa. Any additional visitors are charged at £15. Once booked, final numbers and dietary requirements are required a week prior to your visit.
