Jo is thrilled to have her first children's story "And... are alpacas REALLY scary?!" published! Jo was inspired to write the story by children who visited Abbotts View Farm and arrived worried and anxious because they were fearful of animals. but left with a smile on their faces and a sense of achievement. Our orphaned alpacas, Dolly and Dot, born in the summer of 2015, provided the perfect opportunity to encourage children who were fearful to overcome that fear and have a go at bottlefeeding them. Their small size and adorable faces made them hard to resist!
The book has been illustrated by Kristian Hewitt, Jo's brother in law. The illustrations have been painted with watercolours and taken directly from photos that Jo staged on the farm. Kristian has used some really clever techniques to add photographic faces to the paintings to make them truly unique and to preserve the wonderful expressions of Poppy, his daughter, Jo's niece, and our model for the book!
The book is available to purchase via Amazon and is available as a paperback or ebook for amazon kindle. Paperbacks are also available to be purchased from the farm and Jo is happy to sign a copy if purchasing as a gift
Jo is busy visiting local schools reading her book to the children.
